Development Officer

The Client
- A foundation in the education sector is looking to employ a Development Officer to join their dynamic team.
The main objective of this role is to build private financial support from a target audience of organisations, individuals and graduates to enhance the development of the foundation’s community. You will report to the Chief Executive and work closely with the Director of Development and other team members to further the mission and objectives of the foundation through external funding.
The Role
- Develop a portfolio of individual and corporate major gift prospects. Identify, cultivate and solicit individuals and organisations, building relationships that lead to gift opportunities.
- Work with the Director of Development in the planning and implementation of major fundraising projects.
- Stewards donors’ relationship with the foundation, promoting their involvement with the company.
- Collaborate with staff from various units within the foundation, developing projects attractive to private funding.
- Collaborate on joint programmes to further ongoing corporate and individual donor relationships.
- Research new and existing prospects and bring them forward to the foundation’s Development Team.
- Provide detailed reports on fundraising progress on a regular basis.
- Assist the Director of Operations on the planning and organising of events.
- Records all contacts, actions and donations into the central stewardship database.
The Candidate
- A primary degree with at least five years’ experience in a similar environment.
- Alternatively 5 to 10 years’ experience in business development or as a key account manager.
- Excellent networking, communication and organizational skills.
- Confident presentation skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
- Highly motivated, enthusiastic with great attention to detail.
- Proven ability to both think strategically and execute plans.
- A good knowledge of “who’s who” across Ireland’s business sectors would be an advantage.
- Must hold a full driving license and have a car available for work.
